:: Teaching Approach:

I believe that learning is enhanced when the classroom environment is primarily student-centered. Therefore, the instructional strategies that I practice include (1) embedding  learning in authentic contexts, (2) creating social learning communities, (3) appreciating multiple perspectives, (4) encouraging students to take control of their own learning, (5) implementing lessons that include strategically planned practice, (6) acting as a coach/facilitator to guide student learning through the use of higher-level feedback and questioning, (7) integrating meaningful use of computers to promote transfer and problem solving skills, and (8) utilizing the most appropriate method of assessing student learning.
