About the Certificate
The certificate program is approved by the Tennessee Board of Regents. However, the certificate is not an endorsement or add-on licensure. The certificate designation will appear on the student's university transcript after successfully completing all four courses.
Teachers who have completed the certificate have remained in their classrooms to become models for technology integration. Others have leveraged this certificate to become technology integration specialists, such as technology facilitators, technology coaches, and curriculum integration specialists.
K-12 Certificate Application Form
Once students have completed the required 12 hours for the certificate, they should complete the application and submit it to the certificate coordinator. The form will be processed and submitted to the Graduate School at the University of Memphis and the certification will then appear on the student's transcript.
Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Students
MAT students at the University of Memphis are required to take IDT 7061: Computers, Technology, Learning, and the Classroom as part of their course work. As such, this requirement would count as one of the three required courses. MAT students may be interested in incorporating the other three courses into their curricula in order to complete the certificate along with their licensure and degree.
Financial Information
As of June 2009, the cost for online courses at the University of Memphis is $430 per credit hour, and each course is 3 credit hours. Financial Aid may be available.
