Are you interested in the newest online technologies available for teaching and learning? Are you looking for ways to invigorate your instruction with the latest online tools and applications?
Then register for this summer's Web 2.0 Teaching Technologies course (IDT 7078/8078)!!!
"Web 2.0" refers to what is generally agreed upon as a second generation of web development and web design applications. These online applications help to facilitate communication, information sharing, interoperability, and collaboration via the Internet. This course will focus on useful applications for teaching and instruction, and is hands-on and interactive.

The IDT Program faculty and students wish to express our congratulations to Julie Forbess, an IDT doctoral student. Julie recently was awarded the coveted Shelby County Schools High School Teacher of the Year Award for 2009.
In addition to this wonderful award, Julie has also been awarded the Millington Central High School Teacher of the Year and the Shelby Count Schools Department of Instruction’s Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching Honorable Mention for 2009.
Dr. Lee Allen, assistant professor of instructional design and technology/information science in the University of Memphis’ College of Education, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture at Ostrohradsky Poltava Regional Pedagogical Institute in Ukraine during the 2009-10 academic year. Allen will be lecturi
ng on “Free Technologies and their Potential Benefits in Education,” providing instruction to working teachers in Ukraine to improve their technological qualifications, gain new knowledge and skills, and improve teaching techniques to better understand how to use these applications and to encourage their students to use them.

The IDT Program faculty and students wish to express our congratulations to Jerry Bates, an IDT doctoral student. Jerry Bates recently was awarded the coveted 2009 ICL Doctoral Student of the Year Award. This is an annual honor bestowed on one doctoral candidate by the ICL Department.
Jerry is honored to have received the award. When asked about how she felt, Jerry responded "Life is a journey of becoming, which means the destination is always over another hill, off in the distance. Along the way, I’ve been enriched by gifted professors, talented fellow students, and the challenging ID&T curriculum. I am humbled by receiving this award, and hope to live up to the respect it signifies. To me, this will always be a work in progress.
Be certain to tell Jerry congratulations on a job well done.
Proposals are now being accepted for the 27th Annual Educational Technology Conference sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Education, Office of Professional Development. You are invited to participate in this conference by submitting a proposal that will focus in the theme of the conference "Learn, Grow, Lead". Your proposal should target one or more of the conference strands (Curricular, Technical, and Administrative). Presentations submitted should have dynamic presenters who provide inspirational, practical, and research-based sessions that support learning with a 21st century focus.
